The silly season has begun :)

I LOVE Christmas :) If it was up to me I would have the Christmas tree up in November, but Craig is a stickler for tradition so I have to wait until the 1st of December :( We have compromised though - I got to put up all the other decorations today :) I have written up all my Xmas cards and started posting them off.

The other day Mum confessed that she was wanted to start making cards! Woo hoo - I have finally converted her! LOL We made some Christmas gift cards on Tuesday afternoon. It was a good way to continue using up all my scraps and to try a few new techniques (sponging / stencils). We are going to make some more tags next week.

Friday night I went to an Ultimo party at Donna's - lots of chatting and laughs :) Saturday night Craig and I went to a birthday dinner - yummy food and cocktails - great way to celebrate! Today was the usual lazy Sunday - I did get some gardening done and finally remembered to put in the solar garden lights we brought a few months ago :)

Postcrossing

After seeing all the gorgeous postcards that Mel had been receiving from Postcrossing, I finally signed up a few months ago. It took me about a month to actually get around to sending my first postcard (I wasn't sure what to write LOL plus wanted to stock up on some postcards) - but I have sent a few cards off and have received 2 so far. I LOVE this card I received yesterday :)

I am looking forward to seeing what postcards I am sent, where they come from, the stamps and how far they have travelled.

Girls Nite In!

Saturday night was the Girls Nite In Fundraiser for the Cancer Council. I got up early to bake & ice a coconut cake (recipe here), got some new photos printed and packed some page kits. There was lots to see and do - fashion parades, Zumba demonstrations, lots of stalls for some shopping, catch up with friends, etc. In between chatting, shopping, a Kaszazz make & take and watching the demos, I didn't get much scrapping done. Oops and considering I was super organised with kits too :( Oh well, will work on them this week. Every one was given a mini kit to make a card to donate to the Cancer Council - I actually did get that finished, but forgot to take pics LOL This is the Christmas card make & take that Pauline (Kaszazz) organised for the night.

A HUGE thanks to Lorelle for organising such a wonderful night :)

Fairy cards

I got a set of gorgeous fairy stamps free with a card magazine and thought they would be perfect for my nieces' birthday cards! These were coloured with water pencils and aqua brush. The wings have Ice Stickles on them, but it doesn't really show in the pics though.

Next year's holiday!

Can you guess where we are going?

Yes we are off to New Zealand!!! We are super excited!! This was the destination planned for our holidays in 2012, but P&O offered us an amazing deal! Yes, we are going on another cruise and on the same boat (Pacific Dawn) LOL This cruise is for 15 days and is actually going to cost us less than the last cruise!! We sail off in March - so not as long to coundtown and wait for as the last cruise :)

What a crazy weekend!

Saturday Craig and I took his Mum out to lunch for her birthday. It was a special "number" birthday, but she didn't want a huge celebration. After lunch we did some shopping, then we booked our holiday for next year (will post more about that tomorrow)!!

Saturday night we got dressed in our Hawaiian shirts and leis and headed off to the management Christmas party. We were there for 1/2 hour when Craig tripped over in a pot-hole and twisted his ankle :( He said it wouldn't have been as embarrassing if he had of been dunk, but he was sober when it happened LOL We spent 2 hours at the hospital getting x-rays and seeing doctors. We were told he did severe ligament damage :( So now he has a swollen and bruised ankle and is hobbling around on crutches. He has a doctors appointment tomorrow to see what happens next.

Sunday morning I did some gardening and picked my first strawberry off my plants :) Then I spent the afternoon with the lovely ladies at Simply Crafty. We had a farewell lunch for Rachael who is heading off to Brisbane next year. I was going to scrap, but decided to make cards instead. I had already made the car panel earlier - I tried some new distressing techniques (and new stamp) and I am really pleased with the finished result :)

The 2nd card is a CASE of a CASE LOL Kylie 'tweaked' some ideas off a card I made and I liked her card so much, that I took a lot of the ideas and made one! :)

I also worked on a stamped / paper pieced panel - will post pics once I have finished the card.

Thank you Spotlight :)

I got a $10 voucher from Spotlight in the mail last week, so today I used it to buy a Martha Stewart glue pad (which was marked down to $10)!

I also picked up the latest "Get Creative magazine" while I was there - free with VIP card. it's always nice getting something for free :)

Lets hope I have more success with the glue pad than I did with my glue gun :( I brought a new (and admittedly cheap) glue gun to use on some projects. I had only been using it for one day when it blew up! I am not exaggerating - it literally blew up with a big bang and flames!! I am so glad that I wasn't holding it at the time - it was standing on the table and left a scorch mark! Imagine what it would have done to my hand :( I can laugh about it now, but at the time I was horrified & upset. It was my first and last glue gun!

Hmmm - can't think of a title :)

Friday night Cathie, Kylie & Elena came over for a pizza and card making night. Well the girls make cards - I just pushed paper around LOL Cathie is making a pack of cards to give to her Mum for Christmas - same as I did last year (see this previous post). I was supposed to be working on my pack for Mum, but that didn't really happen LOL Kylie started on her Christmas cards - hopefully she will get them finished in time :)

Saturday morning I picked up my new glasses :) Saturday night Craig & I had a bottle of wine and fish & chips on the beach, then went for a walk along the boardwalk. It was Craig's idea - I have such a sweet hubby :)

Sunday I had a quiet day at home, just watching DVD. Craig and a friend decided to go fishing, but unfortunately it was a disaster :( First he put a fishing hook in the top of his finger, second he had a flat tyre on his boat trailer, third when he finally got the boat on the water the battery was flat! Poor Craig :(

Watering can

I am still cleaning the bomb site AKA my scrap room. I did some card-making yesterday - I made this cute watering can! I have seen some variations of this around the www and thought it was a clever idea for a birthday card! I gave it to Mum for her birthday and she loved it :)

Another birthday card - November is our busiest month for birthdays (6)! I wanted to try out some new Spellbinder butterfly dies I brought.

Some exciting news....Suzie at Love Scrappin' is stocking my crochet flowers!!!

Layouts!!

I normally don't scrap vintage LO - I love them, but I find them a little daunting. Since I have a stack of vintage photos and some lovely vintage embellishments - I thought it was time to bite the bullet LOL I will admit this has taken months to complete - lots of pushing embellishments around the page till I was happy. This is a photo of my Gran - I think she looks beautiful :) I love how this LO turned out and have started working on another vintage LO :)

Another completed LO - this time using some bright papers (not usually my style) and some old products (felt flowers). I am trying to use a combo of new & old products - time to stop hoarding stuff :)

A BBQ and some scrapping

Saturday night we had a BBQ to catch up with everyone. Poor Craig was the only male there, but he was happy to sit inside and watch sports after dinner, while us girls sat outside drinking and chatting. Now the weather is getting warmer we want to have more social get togethers - day at the beach, picnics, etc.

Sunday Craig & I went to the markets to get some fresh fruit and to just wander around looking at all the stalls. I brought some new stamps from Joy and Helen :) The rest of the afternoon was spent watching movies, then DVD of last year's road trip.

Today I have been cleaning my scrap room - it looks like a bomb sight :( I think I am not motivated to scrap because of the mess / lack of room. After doing some tidying up / sorting - I sat down and finished 2 LO!!! I will post pics tomorrow :)
